How to Get to the Other Side of Fear: 7 Faith-Based Steps for Women of Faith
We all know fear can be a paralyzing force, holding us back from stepping into our God-given purpose.
And yet, we don't often practice what to do in advance, before it shows up at our door step.
No one is born brave, we build it step by step with the Holy Spirit.
As women of faith, we often find ourselves waiting for fear to subside or for the "perfect conditions" before taking action. However, everything you desire - your growth, your calling, and your dreams - lies on the other side of fear.
To overcome and finally live above it, here are 7 faith-based steps to help you get to the other side of fear and achieve your goals - no matter when fear shows up.
1. Recognize That Fear is a Stop Sign, Not a Red Light
The first step to overcoming fear is recognizing it for what it is: a temporary pause for reflection, not a permanent red light. Fear doesn’t mean you should put yourself in park or double down on your brakes; it simply means there’s a challenge to think through and overcome.
Acknowledge that fear is present, but don’t allow it to dictate your actions. In the Bible, we are reminded that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Action Step:
When fear arises, take a moment to acknowledge it, then declare out loud that God has given you power over it. Refuse to let it stop you from moving forward.
2. Stop Waiting for the Perfect Conditions
Many women find themselves waiting for the perfect set of circumstances before they take a leap of faith. Whether it’s waiting for the economy to improve, more time to be available, or to feel more confident, these excuses keep you stagnant.
Faith doesn’t wait for perfect conditions; it acts in spite of the obstacles.
Action Step:
Identify one area in your life where you’ve been waiting for things to “line up” perfectly. Take one small step forward today, even if things aren’t ideal. Trust that God will guide you as you move.

3. Act Despite Fear
One of the biggest myths about fear is that you need to eliminate it before you can take action. The truth is, fear rarely goes away before you move. Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s acting in spite of it.
As kingdom women, we are called to take bold steps forward, trusting God with the outcome.
Action Step:
Pray for courage and take one bold step toward your goal today, even if you’re scared. Ask God to give you the strength to act despite your fear.
4. Trust God’s Timing, Not Your Feelings
Feelings are fleeting, but God’s timing is perfect. Often, we hesitate to move forward because our feelings aren’t aligned with our faith. However, waiting for your feelings to match your calling is a trap. God doesn’t require you to feel ready, He requires obedience.
Action Step:
Commit to making decisions based on faith, not feelings. When you sense God calling you to act, obey, even if you don’t “feel ready.” Your feelings will catch up to your faith in time.
5. Stop Looking for Outside Validation
Many of us wait for validation from others before we act whether it’s advice, mentorship, or external encouragement. While God will send people into your life to guide and support you, those people often appear after you take the first step, not before.
Don’t wait for someone else to affirm what God has already told you.
Action Step:
Take a step of faith without waiting for others to approve or validate your decision. Trust that the right people will come into your life when you need them.
6. Rely on Spiritual Authority, Not Physical Ability
It’s easy to believe that you need to work harder or hustle more to overcome fear, but this mindset can lead to burnout.
God has given you spiritual authority, which is far more powerful than physical effort alone. Tap into that authority by praying for guidance, wisdom, and grace.
Action Step:
Before taking any action, pray for spiritual insight. Ask God for wisdom and clarity, and rely on His authority to lead you. Remember, success is won in the spiritual realm before it manifests in the physical.
7. Declare Your Identity in Christ
Fear thrives when we forget who we are in Christ. As Women of Faith, your identity is rooted in God’s promises. You are not called to live a life dominated by fear but one of power and purpose. Reaffirming your identity in Christ helps you stand firm against the lies of fear and doubt.
Action Step:
Start each day by declaring who you are in Christ. Say, "I am a woman of faith. I am strong, courageous, and equipped for every good work God has planned for me." Speaking life over yourself breaks the grip of fear and empowers you to act.
Move Forward in Faith
Getting to the other side of fear isn’t about waiting for fear to disappear. It’s about taking faith-filled action despite the fear. As you apply these steps, recognizing fear as a barrier, refusing to wait for perfect conditions, acting in faith, and relying on your spiritual authority, you’ll find yourself moving closer to the life God has called you to live and achieving your resolutions.
Fear may not disappear entirely, but it will lose its power over you.
By embracing your identity in Christ and trusting God’s timing, you’ll step boldly into your purpose. Now is the time to stop waiting and start acting. Everything you desire is truly on the other side of fear.
